1. About this policy
This Privacy Policy applies to the ShowUp accountability platform: the ShowUp website, the ShowUp Android app, and the ShowUp Telegram bot @ShowUpLinkBot (“ShowUp Study Cohorts”). In this policy, “ShowUp,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to the operator of the ShowUp service.
ShowUp is an independent service. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or run on behalf of any exam body or recruiting organisation.
By using ShowUp, you provide information that is necessary to run the service. If you do not want this information processed as described here, you should not use ShowUp.
2. Information we collect
Account and profile information
When you sign in with Google, ShowUp receives account information made available through Google Sign-In, such as your Google account identifier, email address, display name, and profile photo. ShowUp also currently supports Firebase email-and-password accounts. In that case, Firebase Authentication processes your email address and password credentials; ShowUp does not store your password in its application database. You may also provide or edit a ShowUp username and bio.
Accountability and group information
We collect information you create or generate while using ShowUp, including:
- the accountability groups you join and your membership status;
- daily submissions, task details, scores, and submission status;
- screenshots you choose to upload as proof of work;
- peer-review decisions and reviewer comments;
- appeals, proposed corrections, and administrator decisions or comments;
- attendance, misses, streaks, successful days, and other accountability statistics;
- tomorrow plans and related follow-through information;
- group chat messages and other content you post; and
- room announcements and activity records generated through use of the service.
Notifications and device information
If you allow notifications, ShowUp stores a Firebase Cloud Messaging registration token associated with your account and browser or device. We use it to send accountability reminders and service notifications. You can deny or later disable notification permission in your browser or device settings.
Technical information
ShowUp and its Firebase infrastructure necessarily process technical information used to operate and secure the service, such as IP address, browser or device information, request timestamps, network activity, authentication state, and diagnostic or security logs. The app also uses browser storage, cookies, service workers, or similar technologies where needed for sign-in, session persistence, app updates, and core functionality.
3. How we use information
We use the information described above to:
- authenticate users and maintain accounts;
- provide profiles, accountability groups, submissions, reviews, results, appeals, and chat;
- calculate accountability outcomes such as attendance, misses, and streaks;
- send reminders and service-related notifications when enabled;
- moderate groups, resolve incomplete reviews and appeals, and enforce app rules;
- protect the service, investigate abuse, and troubleshoot technical problems; and
- maintain, operate, and improve ShowUp.
Some ShowUp cohorts may charge a fee. Paid cohort fees are paid inside the ShowUp Android app through Google Play’s billing system. ShowUp doesn’t receive or store your card or UPI details. A fee covers the specific cohort you pay for and isn’t refundable once room access is unlocked.
We do not sell personal information and do not use personal information for third-party advertising.
4. Who can see your information
ShowUp is a social accountability service. Some information is visible to other people as part of its core features:
- Public information. Public room details, public announcements and activity, and room roster information may be visible without signing in. Roster entries can include your username, profile photo, role, membership status, and accountability statistics. Your email address is not intended to appear in public room records.
- Room members. Active members of the same room can see information needed for group participation, including room submissions and uploaded screenshots. Group chat messages are visible to participants who can access that room.
- Reviews. Assigned reviewers can view the submission they are asked to review. Authors can see released review decisions and comments without reviewer identities. Raw review records retain reviewer identifiers for integrity and administration, and can be accessed by the reviewer and authorized administrators.
- Administrators. Authorized ShowUp administrators can access information needed to manage rooms, decide appeals, resolve incomplete reviews, enforce rules, and support the service.
Do not upload or post information you do not want shared with the relevant audience. In particular, screenshots may contain personal or sensitive information outside ShowUp; review them before upload.
6. Data retention
Uploaded proof screenshots are temporary. ShowUp schedules them for deletion after the applicable results release plus a two-day retention period. Deletion is performed by a scheduled process, so the exact removal time may be later if that process is delayed or needs to retry. The related submission record can remain after its screenshot is removed.
Other account, group, submission, review, appeal, message, and accountability records are retained while needed to operate ShowUp, preserve group history and outcome integrity, resolve disputes, secure the service, or meet applicable obligations.
When you delete your ShowUp account in the app, ShowUp removes your login credentials and private profile, clears temporary screenshots and personal plans tied to your account, and anonymizes your roster display name in groups. Group accountability records such as submissions, reviews, and misses may remain in de-identified form so other members’ history and outcomes stay intact.
7. Access, correction, and deletion requests
You can update certain profile information in ShowUp and can disable notifications through your browser or device settings. Revoking ShowUp’s access from your Google account does not by itself delete information already stored by ShowUp.
To delete your ShowUp account and associated personal information, open Profile in the app and choose Delete account. Instructions are also published at https://showup-3c849.web.app/delete-account/. You may need to sign in again shortly before confirming deletion.
For access or correction requests, or if you cannot use the in-app deletion path, email smrenterprises24@gmail.com from the email address associated with your ShowUp account. Include “ShowUp privacy request” in the subject and describe your request. We may need to verify that you control the account before acting.
We will review requests in accordance with applicable law. Some records may need to be retained, restricted, or de-identified where deletion would affect other users’ group records, undermine review or appeal integrity, prevent fraud or abuse, or conflict with a legal obligation. We will explain any applicable limitation when responding to a request.
8. Telegram bot (@ShowUpLinkBot)
ShowUp runs a Telegram bot, @ShowUpLinkBot (“ShowUp Study Cohorts”). The bot is separate from your ShowUp app account. This section explains what the bot keeps.
The bot stores only:
- your Telegram user id;
- a flag showing that you’ve seen the intro, so it’s shown only once; and
- if you use the optional practice check-in, your check-in stats: your streak, last check-in date, total check-ins, and last subject.
The bot doesn’t store the content of your messages, photos, or stickers.
We use this data only to run the bot. We don’t sell it or share it. Cloudflare (which hosts the bot) and Telegram process it only to run the bot.
The bot never takes payments. Payments happen only in the ShowUp Android app.
You can delete your bot data at any time by sending /deletedata to the bot. This deletes your bot data only. It’s separate from your ShowUp app account, which you can delete as described in section 7.
Questions about the bot? Email smrenterprises24@gmail.com.
9. Security
ShowUp uses Firebase authentication, access-control rules, server-side validation, restricted file paths, and HTTPS connections to help protect information. Access to group data is limited according to account status and app roles. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. International processing
Google and its service infrastructure may process and store information in countries other than the country where you live. Data-protection laws in those countries may differ from local laws. By using ShowUp, your information may be processed where ShowUp and its service providers operate, subject to applicable legal safeguards.
11. Children’s privacy
ShowUp is not designed to collect personal information from children who cannot lawfully consent to its processing. ShowUp does not currently verify users’ ages. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child provided personal information without the consent required by applicable law, contact us so we can review and address the request.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when ShowUp’s features, data practices, or legal obligations change. We will publish the revised policy at this page and update the date below. Material changes may also be communicated through the app where appropriate.
